Kamarádové: Róza nechce do školky, Hugo nechce spát

Children age:
1-3, 3-6
Website: Ababu

A new double-sided book from Ababu offers children and parents a sensitive and authentic look at the first experiences of kindergarten. The main characters, Hugo and Róza, are just starting preschool and discovering a world full of new rules, friends, joys, and small worries. What is it like when you don’t want to get up in the morning? Why do you have to take a nap after lunch? And are the little everyday worries really as small as they seem to adults?

The text was written by Petra Soukupová, a popular author of award-winning books for both children and adults, who captures children’s emotions with understanding, lightness, and gentle humor. The story is accompanied by original illustrations by Patrik Antczak, in which kindergarten comes to life as a colorful world full of emotions and small everyday victories.

The book is not a guide or manual on how to handle adapting to kindergarten. Instead, it naturally portrays everyday situations and feelings that children experience, opening space for shared conversations. Thanks to its double-sided format, it offers two stories in one book and is intended for all children who have ever refused to go to kindergarten or take a nap after lunch—and for their parents, who know these moments all too well.
