Discovering Art with Kids: Where to Find Creative Workshops for Little Ones in Prague

KidsMap Team

22. January, 2026

Art doesn’t have to be quiet, serious, or “just for looking at.” On the contrary, for little kids it’s ideal when they can touch it, try it out, and experience it in their own way. In Prague, there are several galleries that keep this in mind and regularly organize programs for their youngest visitors. We’ve picked four places where children can naturally engage with art – without any pressure – and we’ve tried them out for you!

Playrooms at the National Gallery Prague

📌Recommended age: 1.5 – 5 years, child + adult: 190 CZK, Prague 7 – Holešovice

Every week, the promenade of the Veletržní Palace transforms into a playroom for the little ones. Each week focuses on a different artist and offers several creative stations for children and adults to make art together.

At the beginning of the program, the host will introduce the main theme, explain each station, and place them in the context of the featured artist’s work. Tickets for the program must be purchased in advance. After the session, your ticket also includes free entry to the related exhibition.

Our tip: at any time, you can take a break from creating and pop “across the hall” for a coffee or a snack at the Kolektor café. After the program, it’s also worth visiting not only the exhibition but the Atlas space, which is perfect for kids. 🎨☕

BABYDOX

📌Recommended age: 2 – 4 years, 120 CZK per person, Prague 7 – Holešovice

The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art is known for not being afraid to experiment—and the same goes for its programs for children. Art workshops often respond to current exhibitions and encourage kids to think, ask questions, and create in their own way.

For little explorers, the workshops are run very sensitively, without complicated explanations, focusing instead on stories, materials, and their own imagination. It’s a great choice if you want to show your children that art can take many forms and that there’s no right or wrong way to create.

We recommend bringing clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy with paint. Slippers for both you and your child will definitely come in handy. Tickets for the program must be purchased in advance.

Our tip: during the workshops, you can easily pop next door to Bistro DOX+ for coffee and a small treat. After the program, it’s also worth visiting the DOX by Qubus design shop, which is part of the gallery – you’ll find plenty of beautiful children’s books there. ☕🎨🖌️

Little Architecture Play: CAMP – Center for Architecture and Urban Planning

📌Recommended age: 2 – 6 years, child + adult: 50 CZK, Prague 2 – New Town

At first glance, CAMP might not seem like a place for little kids, but the opposite is true. Their family workshops take a playful approach, focusing on the city, space, and architecture. Children build, draw, create, and think about where and how they live. Even the youngest can explore how a city, houses, or public spaces work.

The theme of the workshops changes each time, and at the start, friendly guides will introduce it, explain each station, and be available throughout the program. Tickets for the program must be purchased in advance.

Our tip: the entire CAMP space is free, including the current exhibitions. They are always fascinating and educational—even for those who aren’t usually familiar with architecture or urban planning—so we definitely recommend checking them out. There’s also a café on-site, serving excellent coffee and tasty treats. ☕🏙️

Creative Mini Workshops at Galerie Jilská 14

📌Recommended age: 1–6 years, adult + 1–3 children: 150 CZK, Prague 1 – Old Town

Take your kids to places you don’t visit every day. Let them create, explore, and have fun beyond home or the playground.

Workshops at Galerie Jilská take place only once per current exhibition. You’ll enjoy a short tour of the exhibition, three creative stations, and one play station full of fun. Comfortable facilities, water, coffee, and tea are available throughout the program. The gallery’s entrance is on the ground floor and accessible with strollers, but most of the exhibition and workshops are in the basement, accessible only via stairs. 🎨✨

Our tip: don’t forget to follow Galerie Jilská 14 on Instagram or send them an email so you won’t miss any upcoming workshops. 📩✨

Art workshops in galleries aren’t about performance or training little artists. They’re primarily about experiences, spending quality time together, and discovering the world through different eyes. Children learn to perceive colors, shapes, and emotions, develop their imagination and creativity, and at the same time build a natural relationship with culture. And who knows – you might find that art is just as fun for you as it is for your kids. 🎨💛
