In 2026, Jičín will come alive with a magical fairy-tale atmosphere during the 36th annual Jičín – Town of Fairy Tales festival, celebrating the anniversary of writer Václav Čtvrtek. His stories helped establish Jičín as a true fairy-tale town and introduced beloved characters such as Rumcajs and Křemílek a Vochomůrka.
This year’s theme, “Háj a já” (“The Grove and Me”), connects the world of fairy tales with the forest as a place of imagination, adventure, and mystery. Visitors are invited to join a creative art challenge, help build a symbolic fairy-tale forest, and become part of a unique atmosphere that will embrace the entire town. The program also includes costume parades, literary activities, and a special video mapping show projected onto Jičínský zámek.
The festival welcomes children, parents, and schools to explore a world where imagination, kindness, and creativity come first.
