A Spring Full of Fun: Tips for Activities with Kids

KidsMap Team

20. March, 2026

The first sunny days are here, inviting us to get creative, go for walks, and talk about all the changes ahead. Nature is awakening from its winter sleep, everything is turning green, birds are singing, and we feel more energized for all kinds of adventures. We bring you a collection of activity ideas for both indoors and outdoors that will entertain children and adults alike, and most importantly, create quality time for you and your family.

Say Goodbye to Winter and Welcome Spring

The “Morana” ritual is a Slavic tradition meant not only to say goodbye to winter, but also to let go of everything that weighs us down and to welcome spring with new energy. Make your own Morana using straw, sticks, leaves, dried fruits, and string, take it on a walk together, and send it floating on water. Take the opportunity to talk about what this past winter brought you and what you are looking forward to in the spring days.

Or this Sunday, March 22, head out with the kids here:

Creating Spring Animals

Spring is a season of baby animals and new beginnings. And if it’s also a season of colds for you and you have to stay at home, use the time together for crafting—create animals on paper. You will need sheets of paper, tempera paints, brushes, and markers. We made little sheep and chicks, but there are no limits to your imagination.

You can display your finished creations at home and talk about how different animals live, or send them as Easter greetings to grandparents or anyone you want to delight.

A Spring Picnic Full of Discoveries

Who wouldn’t love an outdoor picnic? Pack a blanket, extra clothes, a picnic basket, and head out into nature. Check out the first snowdrops, crocuses, or daffodils. Let the children explore nature with all their senses—mud can be washed off, and everyone can clean up afterwards! 🙂

You can also combine the picnic with gathering wild garlic, which you can later use to make pesto, add to a spring stuffing, or create herb salt or butter. Get your little helpers involved in the kitchen, and don’t forget a proper apron! 🙂

Whether you go on a picnic, create a Morana, or simply make colorful little animals together, remember that the most important thing is the time spent with each other. Enjoy a spring full of joy, laughter, and little adventures.
